The Satellite Year
With their debut album „MISSION: POLARLIGHTS“ (LP, 2011) THE SATELLITE YEAR attain a new level between Pop, Electro and Melodic Post Punk. Signing record deals with the German Midsummer Records (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Engineer Records (UK/US) and the Japanese Radtone Music (Japan) in early spring 2011 THE SATELLITE YEAR have gained increased attention in Europe and overseas. Driven by positive feedback in the media, in the further course of 2011 THE SATELLITE YEAR played a couple of shows and smaller festivals in Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and France sharing the stage with bands such as Pendulum (AUS/UK), NOFX (US), The Drums (US), The Subways (UK), Die Fantastischen Vier (GER), Bullet for my Valentine (UK), The Get Up Kids (US) and Dropkick Murphys (US).
In corporation with the award winning producer Thorsten Hary, the band shot their first music video for the single “Jelly Jelly, How To Survive Such A Trip?” in summer 2011. Being featured on the renowned British channels tape.tv, KERRANG! TV and the American BlankTV the band signed endorsement deals with the Swedish Hagstrom Guitars, KORG and AGNER Swiss Drumsticks. Enhanced by the web wide spreading THE SATELLITE YEAR have been nominated as new comers of the week by putpat.tv and Ourzone Magazine. In early 2012 the video has been included in the programs of the Austrian music television GO TV and the German music broadcaster RCK.TV. Currently the band is focusing on the songwriting for their second full length record, their second video release and the preparation for their upcoming shows including first visits to UK and Spain in late 2012.
The band are now in the studio recording their new album ‘Brooklyn I Am’ which is due to be released in October.
